Tungsten Alloy Counterweight Cubes
Tungsten Alloy Cube is a small kind of material made of tungsten and other metal alloys, usually tungsten with nickel and iron or tungsten with nickel and copper etc.
Advantages of tungsten alloy cubes
Tungsten alloy cube, as one branch of tungsten alloy products, shares similar properties with other tungsten alloy products such as non-toxic and environmental friendly. Besides, for the same reasons tungsten is a superior product for weighting pinewood derby cars. Tungsten is 3.2 times the weight of the no-lead weighting material often used on pinewood derby cars, thus it enables tremendous flexibility in the design of the car. Coincidentally, tungsten has been used by Chinatungsten for the metal roll cage and as frame ballast to lower the center of gravity of the race car.
Why choose tungsten alloy cubes used in pinewood derby?
Tungsten alloy cubes are the most used shape. They are available in ¼", 3/16″ and 1/8″ sizes. Cubes allow to compact weight in square cut weight pockets. Cubes offer you a lot of control in the placement of your COG. These Tungsten Cubes measure 1/4 inch on each side. Your 4 ounce shipment of Tungsten Cubes will contain 24 or 25 cubes. Tungsten Cubes can be easily used for pinewood derby car weighting by drilling a series of 1/4 inch deep holes in the bottom of the car and then using a chisel or sharp knife to clean out the pocket. Since the Tungsten Alloy Cubes are very hard, do not plan to drill out any extra weight. Instead, use an alternate method to make fine adjustments such as adding/removing tungsten putty, beads, etc. In addition, tungsten alloy cubes can be packed as increasing more weight in a smaller area which giving you more flexibility in your car design.
